How Alteron Node meets EU product, radio and environmental requirements.
This document explains how Alteron takes legal responsibility for the Node product line on the EU market — the directives we work to, the harmonised standards we test against, and the declarations, environmental and data-protection commitments that back the CE mark on every panel.
Alteron places the Node products on the EU market under its own name and is therefore the legal manufacturer under Article 12 of the Radio Equipment Directive. For the wall panels we build on an established hardware platform and take full manufacturer responsibility for the finished product — the technical file, the conformity assessment and the CE marking. The Node Pulse sensor, together with all Node firmware and cloud software, is developed and assessed in-house. Each product is assessed to meet the applicable European Union directives and to carry the CE marking. This page summarises the framework we work to; the binding statement for any specific product is its EU Declaration of Conformity.
The CE marking on a Node panel declares that Alteron, as manufacturer, takes responsibility for the product's conformity with the relevant EU legislation. Each product is supported by a technical file and the harmonised standards applied; the signed EU Declaration of Conformity is kept on record and made available to authorities once the full assessment is complete.
Because the panels contain Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, the Radio Equipment Directive is the primary framework and covers safety and electromagnetic compatibility for radio equipment:

Node panels operate on the 2.4 GHz band for Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth, within the power limits set by EU regulation. The panels are not intended for connection to 5 GHz networks. The equipment may be operated in all EU member states.
A simplified EU Declaration of Conformity for each Node product is provided below in template form. The Node P8 platform has been tested against the harmonised safety, EMC and radio standards listed above; the RED cybersecurity assessment (EN 18031) is in progress, with the report expected within two weeks. The binding, signed declaration for a specific model — with its serial range, the standards applied and the authorised signatory — will be issued with the product once that assessment closes. Node panels are electronic equipment and must not be discarded as unsorted household waste. The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol indicates separate collection. At end of life, return the equipment through an approved WEEE collection scheme or to us for recycling. Alteron meets its producer-responsibility obligations for electrical and electronic equipment placed on the Swedish market.
Node panels are designed to comply with the RoHS Directive on the restriction of hazardous substances and with REACH regarding substances of very high concern. We select components and suppliers to meet these requirements and keep supporting documentation in the technical file.
Compliance is not only about hardware. Node is built to GDPR requirements: data is hosted in the EU, every record is scoped to its organisation, devices authenticate with individually revocable credentials, and panels never hold shared keys or talk to external calendars directly. We aim for the Node web application and panel interface to be usable by everyone and design towards the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines and the harmonised standard EN 301 549, in the spirit of the European Accessibility Act.
